lost family and friends - At the family history day (excellent event!) I bought a WHHC 2013 calendar, and in the November picture is a girl called Ann Walls, who must be the Ann Walls I met in 1968, once in Oxford, once in Leeds. She was probably taught by my dad's cousin "young" Wilf Potts. Does anyone out there know what became of either of them? Or anything about Wilf's (and my dad's) uncle Tom and his daughters, who also lived in Thornley? Or even Tom's father John William Potts (1868-1948) who lived at 10 Third Street, Wheatley Hill in 1911, later in Thornley? Please get in touch!

memories - I was born in Wheatley Hill in 1950 and left in 1969 to join the RAF, sadly I have not returned as often as I should have. People may remember my grandfather George Thomson who for awhile ran the working mens club. I was born in Stoker crescent and after a spell living at the mens club we moved to Cain terrace where I stayed until moving to the new estate by the New Tavern ( now a house I believe ), memories of sitting in Balderseros shop drinking hot vimto, challenging each other to eat dry crackers, camping at Haltwhistle, I hung around with the Waites, Carrs, Hendersons to name just a few. Spending saturdays at the matinees at the Regal ( does anyone remember the Brooke Bond chimps being there once ) although now in the south you never forget your roots, and if anyone remebers me or my mother and her sisters please get in touch. Mother Iris, her sisters Nora, June, Anne and Pat all nee Thomson.

Great Memories - Just visited the site - brought back great memories. I lived in Alexandra Tce ( next to Hannah Robsons shop) from about 1955 to 1966. Still remember Sid and Colin Saxby and Colin Thackeray from the Scouts. I still have relatives there (Florrie Rose and her son Bobby) but have lost touch over the years. Anyone remember me, drop me an e-mail. Where have the years gone?

Dairy photo - Hi, I've been looking at your photos, and found my Mum Millie Todd on the dairy photo. I live in Bedlington, Northumberland, but my family (Todds & Ulatts) are from Wheatley Hill. I had several holidays in WH with my Grandparents as a child & have many memories. Mum went to train as a nurse at Newcastle RVI shortly after this, and remained in Bedlington, after marrying my Dad. They married in WH Methodist church in 1955.

Grateful Thanks - In seeking an elusive magazine published more than fifty years ago I chanced upon the WHHC website. In no time at all Margaret Hedley found the magazine in the library, scanned the article I sought and, through the magic of email, provided me with the material needed for my research, which I would add has no connection with Wheatley Hill. Brilliant! Thank you so much for your kind responsiveness Margaret and WHHC.
