Peter Lee - I'm from Quebec, Canada. I've discover your site, because I was looking for some informations on Peter Lee. My mother gave me an old photography (framed), taken by Peter Lee, wheatly Hill. I don't know the value of that picture but it is very nice and 100% well conserved. If someone has some informations I' would appreciated . |Marie-Line M. marrilou_m@hotmail.com... Collapse

Old Family Photo's/Summerson/Franklin - A very interesting website, |i have a strong family connection here, im related to the Summersons mentioned on your census lists, the Summersons from Ludworth, other Summersons in the area are most likely my cousins, im also related to the Franklins that were in Wheatley Hill, the Franklins were there in the 1880's and some were still there around 1912 including William Franklin, |this information is listed in my family tree records as Annie Summerson and Robert Summerson, my grandfathers sister and brother married 2 of the Franklin family and emigrated to Pennsylvania,USA in 1912-1914 but it apears that some of the Franklin family had already settled in USA in the 1880's, I have about 12 old photos of Summersons from the 1800's to the early 1900's and in perfect condition but i havnt a clue who they are? i can see family likenesses in some of them so im hoping someone here might be able to identify some of them if you have a connection to the Summersons here, im hoping my great grand parents and great great grand parents from Ludworth are amongst them. I keep hoping one of my ancestors photos might turn up on your website one day|Many thanks for a good website |R Summerson|... Collapse

Family links with Wheatley Hill area - The Family Bible is now in my possesion and the entries about births marriages and deaths together with the old photographs found in it indicate that my grandparents and relatives lived in Wheatley Hill, Thornley, Ludworth and Haswell area.||For some reason there was a family upset about the time my Grandparents married which meant I have no idea if I have any relatives still in the area. Having traced a cousin, from my Mother's side,on the other side of the world it has given me hope that I may have the same good luck in the North East.||My Father's mother was called Margaret Ward and her parents lived at 4 Gowland Terrace, Wheatley Hill in the late 1800s. Her sister was Whihelmina, known as Mina and from an other entry their parents could have been Margaret d.1947,Elias Ward d.1949.||Rawlings is my Grandfather's family name.|Great grandfather Frank married Alice Cooper. Their daughter Margaret Jane died aged 1 day. Their son William was my grandfather.||Alice Rawlings was buried in Thornley in 1913. Her husband at Seaton Hirst in 1925.||William Rawlings married Margaret Ward. Children Mary Alice and Leslie - my father.|William died 1948, Margaret Rawlings 1965, Mary Alice and Leslie in 1968.||I would love to know if the house and road still exist and if I do have any kin in the area. ||... Family History - Both my paternal grandparents were from Wheatley Hill. My gran Irene (Renie) Dove was born at 18, Robson Street in 1922, and my grandad George Anthony (Geordie) Day was born in Wingate Lane in 1917, they married in 1943 at Thornley where they came to live and raise a family. Their eldest child is my father Geoffrey Day, my mother is Ellen Laverick. My maternal grandfather was John (Jacky) Laverick born 1926 in Thornley, and who died in 1984. He was living at 14, Liddle Terrace, Wheatley Hill at the time of his death. I never new him, but would love to hear from anyone who did. This is a great site by the way, and I am amazed at the amount of information available. I have just ordered two books from the WHHC,and I know I won't be able to put them down. I already have 1886-1913 and still after two years keep refering to it. Keep up the EXCELLENT work.... Collapse
