Family History - Both my paternal grandparents were from Wheatley Hill. My gran Irene (Renie) Dove was born at 18, Robson Street in 1922, and my grandad George Anthony (Geordie) Day was born in Wingate Lane in 1917, they married in 1943 at Thornley where they came to live and raise a family. Their eldest child is my father Geoffrey Day, my mother is Ellen Laverick. My maternal grandfather was John (Jacky) Laverick born 1926 in Thornley, and who died in 1984. He was living at 14, Liddle Terrace, Wheatley Hill at the time of his death. I never new him, but would love to hear from anyone who did. This is a great site by the way, and I am amazed at the amount of information available. I have just ordered two books from the WHHC,and I know I won't be able to put them down. I already have 1886-1913 and still after two years keep refering to it. Keep up the EXCELLENT work.... Collapse
