Dairy photo - Hi, I've been looking at your photos, and found my Mum Millie Todd on the dairy photo. I live in Bedlington, Northumberland, but my family (Todds & Ulatts) are from Wheatley Hill. I had several holidays in WH with my Grandparents as a child & have many memories. Mum went to train as a nurse at Newcastle RVI shortly after this, and remained in Bedlington, after marrying my Dad. They married in WH Methodist church in 1955.... Collapse

Winter and Ward Lineage Search - Both lines are from the Thornley, Wheatley Hill, Haswell areas in the mid 1800s - maybe earlier but I haven't searched any further back yet.||It appears that all the menfolk were miners . . . and my great grandmother Ward was said to have been a teacher or headmistress towards the end of the 1800s. fond memories - Hi, or shouldI say G/day from Melbourne /Aust. I worked at the pit from 1952 to my leaving for Australia in 1961, I was a colliery Bricklayer as was my brother Ted[Eddie] Hoban. Steve Regan was our foreman, Iworked with Reg Carr,Dennis, and Dave Carr andLes Gair. Iwas born at 14 Byron St then we moved into 10Stockton St next to the pit. My three other brothers John, George,Tommy and dad Johnny all worked down the pit.I still have fond memories at 80yrs old of the good mates I left behind at the pit, Congratuations to the History Club and the Photo's which brought back these memories to life, Laurence hoban....
