LOCAL FAMILY HISTORY DAY

Saturday 2nd August 2014 10.00am - 1.30pm

Wheatley Hill Working Mens Club

2014 will be very special in terms of our local history event, as we will be commemorating one of the most tragic conflicts in our history the beginning of the First World War.

For this reason, we have brought the event forward to 2 August and it will form part of a series of village events planned to mark the commemoration.

There is more information below, and you can download a copy of the leaflet by clicking here

ALSO DURING 2014

The History Club were successful in obtaining funding from the Haswell Wind Farms to add information to the website concerning men from the village who went to fight in World War 1.

This information will be ready for launch in time for the commemoration in August and will contain names, addresses, photographs (where available), service numbers and regiments, medal details as much information as we have on each person, and we hope to present it in an informative and interactive way.
