Wheatley Hill History Club is the subject of this issue’s Your Projects feature, in which Rosemary Collins talks to our chair Margaret Hedley about what a village history club can do for the place it belongs to.
The piece traces the club from its first meeting in 1995 — just two people in the room — to a membership of sixty, and covers our monthly talks at Wheatley House, the National Lottery Heritage Fund award that took the story of Peter Lee into six primary schools and onto the stage at Peterlee’s Lubetkin Theatre, and the five members who have gone on to publish books of their own.
